Our Mission

At Mountain View Farm, we are bringing heritage back to the future. We are passionately restoring heritage poultry breeds, providing fun educational experiences through our chick hatching program and chasing the egg rainbow!
Restoring Old Heritage Breed Poultry
Here at the farm we are passionately restoring old heritage breed poultry! What does this mean? With each passing generation we work towards SOP (standard of perfection) and all around higher quality genetics. Why? Quality genetics produce healthier birds with a better resistance to disease & illness, longer lifespans, preferable temperaments, and a beautiful bird that embodies what the breed was intended to be. Our focus will always be quality over quantity. We are so excited to offer people the opportunity to superior poultry genetics across Canada.
Educational Chick Hatching Program
I attribute a good deal of my practical skills, compassion, empathy and understanding of life to the hands on experiences I had growing up on a farm. Witnessing life develop and be born into the world is something magical to be a part of and I was driven to find a way to share this with future generations. While being the oldest of 8, in which 6 of us were homeschooled, I also was able to witness how incredibly driven children are to learn when passionate about a subject. What's more fun than hatching adorable baby chicks!? In my endeavor to create a chick hatching program for our local families and schools, I learned that our amazing teachers are required to put together and create all their own learning materials. On their own unpaid time! After learning this, I immediately sought out an professional educator to assist in creating academic content for our chick hatching programs that aligns with the BC Curriculum. Our program provides an educational asset to educators & Home schooling families. Experience hands-on learning, foster a deep appreciation for agriculture and life cycles and join us to create lasting memories.
Chasing the Rainbow
The most commonly viewed egg colours are white and brown, but chickens can lay a vast array of stunning coloured eggs. With selective breeding, you can see hues ranging from robins egg blue to dark moody olive tones, deep chocolate brown and vibrant terracotta, and even heavy blooms that produce pink, mauve, purple and grey appearing eggs. Collecting such a stunning basket of eggs each day fills my heart with joy, and we are so excited to share these unique eggs with others!
